About the role
As Head of Contract Management (all genders), you will lead all construction contract-related activities for Solar PV, Wind, and BESS projects across the EMEA region. You will define and implement end-to-end contracting strategies, processes, and standards, working closely with project management, procurement, legal, engineering, and construction teams, as well as external partners. You will also support ongoing tendering activities and ensure robust, compliant, and commercially sound contracting practices throughout the project lifecycle.
The position can be based at our Munich headquarters or at another BayWa r.e. office in Germany.
What you will do
Lead and implement the contracting strategy for construction activities across Wind, Solar, and BESS projects in EMEA, aligning with company goals and regional needs.
Develop and standardize contract templates, negotiation guidelines, and risk assessment tools for various contract models (Turnkey, BoS, Multi-lot, Owner-integrated, etc.), ensuring compliance with legal, financial, and operational standards.
Oversee tendering, contractor pre-qualification, contract execution, and ongoing management for EPC, sub-EPC, BOP, and technical services contracts.
Maintain and optimize a portfolio of qualified contractors, mitigating risks and ensuring delivery capacity.
Roll out and ensure adoption of contract management processes across all countries, providing training and support to local teams.
Monitor contract performance and compliance, manage contractual risks, claims, and disputes, and maintain a central repository of documentation for audit readiness.
Act as a key interface with cross-functional teams, fostering proactive contract management, continuous improvement, and alignment with corporate standards.
Provide strategic input to senior leadership on contracting trends, risks, and opportunities, while tracking market trends and pricing benchmarks to inform strategy.
What you’ll need to succeed
Engineering degree (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, etc.) or Commercial degree, or equivalent knowledge.
Minimum 10 years of experience in contract management for EPC/BOP in the renewable energy sector, including leading teams and handling complex construction contracts.
Proven experience with EPC and BOP contract models and technical services contracting, with strong understanding of commercial, legal, and technical aspects.
Fluent in English; other languages are a strong advantage.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in MS Office and contract management tools.
Willingness to travel across EMEA as needed.
