About the role
The Financial Modeller (all genders) will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and refining the harmonized financial model and connected tools and processes that form the financial modelling landscape and support the economic assessment and investment decisions of renewable energy projects, including PV, Wind, and BESS projects. This role ensures the accuracy, transparency, and consistency of financial modelling across the organization and plays a key part in project valuation, financing, and strategic planning.
The Financial Modeller (all genders) has strong technical skills in MS Excel, discounted cash flow modelling and a clear understanding of the development lifecycle of renewable energy assets. This role works closely with the Central Finance segment and international Commercial Project Analysts to ensure the correct reflection of BayWa r.e.’s business model and accuracy of modelling inputs and outputs that inform internal and external stakeholders.
What you will do
Develop and maintain the Projects Financial Model aligned with company standards and the business model of BayWa r.e.
Ensure automations and data flows between the Project Financial Model, other tools and the wider digital landscape.
Ensure availability of documentation, version-control and tailored training for the financial modelling tools for Commercial Project Analysts, Project Developers, Project Managers and other core project team functions.
Maintain and update key assumptions based on market trends and benchmarks.
Ensure exchange between legal entities, enabling knowledge sharing and comparable project valuation results.
Conduct central reviews of the Project Financial Models during the budget approval process, ensuring correctness and consistency of the data.
Support country teams with valuation related requests and serve as a pooled Commercial Project Analyst where needed.
Implement and update depreciation rules, general tax, and local tax assumptions, in the Projects Financial Model and the Global Benchmark Database in alignment with Corporate Accounting and Corporate Tax based on a deep understanding of tax and accounting rules across different markets.
Alignment of changes with the central tax team and external tax advisers (if applicable).
Provide financial modelling support to the Central Project Management team and their Budget Control Tool, ensuring connectivity and data flows from and to the Projects Financial Model and the wider digital landscape.
Close interaction and day to day support for the Commercial Project Analyst teams in the local entities of BayWa r.e.
What you’ll need to succeed
An excellent university degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Renewable Energy, or another relevant field.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
Strong financial acumen and a solid understanding of financial valuation principles.
Proven experience in financial modelling, discounted cash flow modelling, and the valuation of renewable energy projects.
Good understanding of tax regulations and accounting standards, including IFRS.
Strong strategic and analytical thinking skills, with a clear understanding of data driven business requirements.
Proactive mindset with a strong drive to improve tools, optimize processes, and introduce innovative solutions.
Self motivated and enthusiastic team player with a hands on, results oriented approach and a willingness to support colleagues across teams.
